Entrances - Multiples 1

~Multiple Entrances in MegaParks (DragonsIOAŠ)~

by Charlene

This method assumes that you are starting from a megapark where all of the land is owned except for the area under the current entrance(s). When you are done, you will own all of the land except for the entrances, and there will be two working entrances (and one or more decorative entrances)

The most important concept to learn about building entrances with this trainer DragonsIOA is the final ownership of the land (i.e. owned vs not owned). In order for the entrances to work properly:

1) The land under the entrance pathway and the land under the entrance booths (one each to the right and left of the entrance square) are on land that is NOT OWNED.

2) The squares beyond the entrance and all of the park where you plan to build must be OWNED.

The newest DragonsIOA trainer makes doing this very easy since you are now able to change the ownership of all types of land based on the type of "dirt" used.

If you are starting from a workbench megapark, you already own all the land except for the squares under the entrance pathway.

You start by marking the new entrance route with a unique land type not found anywhere else in the park. I chose sand for this example. There will be two functional entrances and one decorative entrance in this example. Depending on the effect you are looking for, you may want to omit putting in a path on the ornamental entrances. Both of the working entrances may be on the same edge of the map if desired.
Mark the new entrances to the park by placing 3 giraffe statues facing the edge of the map.

Bring up the trainer menu (F12), select "Land Tools", then "Invert Map", then "Return to RCT"). This will allow you to edit the area of the old entrance and pathway. Remove the old path tile next to the edge of the map. This will prevent peeps from trying to enter using the old entrance. If you already have more than two entrances in your park, you have to remove the path at the edge of the map at both entrances.

Bring up the trainer menu (F12), select "Land Tools". Select the type of pathway you want to use under your new entrance, then "Move Entrances", then "Invert Map", and "Return to RCT". Fill in the remaining path from the entrance to the edge of the map.

If you are going to have decorative entrances, be sure to leave the last path at the edge of the map empty for now. In this example, the center entrance will be decorative only.

Open land tools (F12, then "Land Tools"). Change ownership of the land to activate the new entrances. Choose the land type of the new entrance, select "not own", then "Change Ownership". Select the land type of the remainder of the park, select "own", then "change ownership".

I changed sand to "not own" and grass to "own". This caused the pathway to extend to the edge of the map so peeps can enter the far left and far right entrances.

Do F12, "Land Tools", and "Invert Map". Add the path tile at the edge of the map on the decorative entrance and re-color the land & pathways of the new entrance. Finally, do F12, "Land Tools", and "Invert Map"

Save the game under a new name, then test to be sure the entrances work properly. When the park opened, peeps only entered on the far left and far right entrance, and the old entrance was not used. Hooray!

If there are peeps wandering the old pathway when you first opened the megapark, you can use the TRG trainer to nuke them (Ctrl+F1). Once you're sure everything works properly, close the test game without saving and go back to building.

You're done!

General Tips/Notes:

  • I always save a backup copy of the game before I start working with changing the entrances. Then, if something goes wrong you don't lose your park.

  • I usually save a copy of the game containing the new entrances under a new name and then do a test opening of the park to make sure that the entrances are working properly. I usually put in a few path squares beyond the entrance to be sure the peeps will enter the park properly. Since you are only checking the entrance, it's OK to open the park and dump in a load of peeps with a trainer even if you don't have any rides built. After you're sure that everything is working OK, you can close the game without saving.

  • You can have only 2 functional entrances (where the peeps actually enter the park), although the DragonsIOA trainer will allow many decorative entrances to be built.

  • If you are working in a partially completed park, be sure that you do not have any paths adjoining the abyss at any point except where you want peeps to enter. Changing ownership of land can cause paths to connect to the edge of the map in multiple unwanted places, so be sure that the edges are free of paths.
