Entrances - Part 7

~Moving Entrances (DragonsIOAŠ 5) in New Parks~

by Charlene

The most important concept to learn about building entrances with this trainer (DragonsIOAŠ 5) is the final ownership of the land (i.e. owned vs not owned). In order for the entrances to work properly:

1) The land under the entrance pathway and the land under the entrance booths (one each to the right and left of the entrance square) are on land that is NOT OWNED.

2) The squares beyond the entrance and all of the park where you plan to build must be OWNED.

This is a step-by-step walk through to build a new entrance and convert the modified park to a megapark where you will own all with the exception of the entrance.

Use the "window mode" instead of one of the full-screen modes when working with this version of the trainer since you will need to swap between the trainer and RCT several times.

Start RCT and select a new game (I chose Leafy Lake). Start the DragonsIOA trainer.

The DragonsIOA 5 trainer uses the land type with the Green Grids to change the ownership of the land between owned and unowned. Most new games don't have that land available. Switch to the DragonsIOA trainer, select "General", then All Attractions".

In the DragonsIOA, select "Land Tool II", then "Invert Land". Now you can build in the area between the entrance and the edge of the map.

Mark the new location of the entrance and the pathway to the edge of the map using the Green Grids land type.

Add 3 giraffes, facing the edge of the map.

Remove the last tile at the edge of the map from the old entrance path.

Switch to the trainer. Select "Land Tools II", then "Move Entrance". The old entrance will disappear, and the new one appears.

Finish the path to the edge of the map.

Switch to the trainer. Select "Land Tools II", then "Rebuild Map Boundaries and Map Entrances". The last tile connects to the edge of the map.

Select "Land Tools I", then "Own All Land". You now own everything. The ugly white fence disappears.

Select "Land Tools II", then "Toggle Green Gridline Surfaces". Now the land under the entrance and ticket booths is unowned.

Finish the entrance by coloring the dirt under the path. Select "Land Tools II", then "Invert Map". Change the color under the entrance and path.

Return the map to normal by selecting "Land Tools II", then "Invert Map".

If there are any peeps on the old pathway, use the TRG trainer to nuke them (Ctrl+F1).

Save the game. Test the park by adding a couple of path tiles beyond the entrance, then opening the park. Peeps should be able to enter.

YOU'RE DONE!

NOTES:

The function "Rebuild Map Boundaries And Map Entrances" starts at a random corner and work its way across the edge of the entire park map. It will convert the first 2 path tiles it finds at the edge of the map into places where peeps may enter from the abyss. Be sure that the only paths that touches the edge of the map are the ones you want the peeps to use to enter the park.

General Tips:

1) I always save a backup copy of the game before I start working with changing the entrances. Then, if something goes wrong you don't lose your park.

2) I usually save a copy of the game containing the new entrances under a new name and then do a test opening of the park to make sure that the entrances are working properly. I usually put in a few path squares beyond the entrance to be sure the peeps will enter the park properly. Since you are only checking the entrance, it's OK to open the park and dump in a load of peeps with a trainer even if you don't have any rides built. After you're sure that everything is working OK, you can close the game without saving.

3) You can have only 2 functional entrances (where the peeps actually enter the park), although the DragonsIOA trainer will allow many decorative entrances to be built.
